Additional 65 million Euros invested in drainage and wastewater treatment projects in 3 cities
On May 27, Mr. Bui Minh Thanh, Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, chaired a meeting with Dutch Government delegation led by Ms. Hanna Pors, Deputy Consul General of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City. Accompanying her was Ms. Mai Linh Scholten, Investment Manager, Invest International Public Investment Program on the implementation of drainage and wastewater treatment projects in Di An, Thuan An, Tan Uyen, phase 2, using capital from DRIVE Program of Dutch Government. Also attending were representatives of leaders of departments, agencies, and leaders of Binh Duong Water and Environment Corporation (Biwase).


On behalf of the provincial leaders, Mr. Bui Minh Thanh informed about some achievements and results of socio-economic development of the province in recent times. Up to now, the wastewater plant of Di An, Thuan An and Tan Uyen drainage and wastewater treatment project phase 2 (completed in 2019) has reached full capacity, and needs to increase the capacity in phase 2 to 25,000m3/day with an investment capital of about 65 million Euros from the DRIVE Program.
Namely, the drainage and wastewater treatment project in Di An, Thuan An, Tan Uyen, phase 2 will focus on upgrading and expanding the wastewater treatment system for these areas with an area of about 8,703 hectares, the expected population served by the project is 335,091 people by 2040, the total wastewater treatment capacity reaches 70,000m³/day. Project implementation period is from 2026-2028, expected to be put into operation in 2029, 2030.
Sharing at the meeting, Ms. Hanna Pors expressed her impression of the development achievements of Binh Duong province and highly appreciated the results achieved in the cooperation program and funding for Binh Duong province in the past time in water cooperation and wastewater treatment. The Dutch Government will continue to prioritize funding for water sector projects, including phase 2 of the drainage and wastewater treatment project in Di An, Thuan An, and Tan Uyen areas.
Mr. Bui Minh Thanh said that Binh Duong province hopes to continue to receive attention and support from the Dutch Government in the coming time to continue to complete the centralized wastewater treatment system to build and create a green urban space, sustainable development... Binh Duong province will urgently complete related procedures so that when authorized by the Prime Minister, the Provincial People's Committee will sign a funding agreement for the project under the D2B program.
